What is so beautiful about young actors--I mean children and young people beginning to study--is that remarkable excitement and energy; that elation at merely being allowed to read a script and to talk to others who love the theatre and love acting as much as you do; that terminal quality that insists that it must be perfect. Well, Julie [Harris] retained this quality into her adulthood, into her stardom, and I'm sure retains it to this day, long after she has learned so much about her craft and the profession that asks for its use. You lose sight of her extraordinary talent only because it is so frequently eclipsed by her extraordinary kindness, her extraordinary generosity, her massive, giving heart.
